Description

The fort at Schoenenbourg, the most important Maginot Line fortification in Alsace, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It comprises 8 blocks for 650 men. You can tour the barracks, the kitchens, the command post, the generating plant, see gun positions, retractable gun turrets, magazines for the ammunition. Documents on the history of the Maginot Line and on military life in a fort are on display.

September: Monday to Friday 2pm to 4pm, weekends 9:30am to 4pm. October: Monday to Friday, 2pm to 4pm; weekends and public holidays, 9:30am to 11am and 2pm to 4pm. November 14 to December 17 inclusive: every weekend from 2pm to 4pm. December 18 to 31 inclusive: daily from 2pm to 4pm. Last admissions at 11am and 4pm. Closes at 1pm and 6pm. Open all year round for groups, on reservation.
